The following list of Ski Do's is provided by and in compliments of the NBS National Safety Committee 1. Be physically fit before skiing. 2. Eat a good breakfast' stop for lunch. 3. Drive safely to and from the ski area. 4. Dress for the weather. 5. Use proper equipment; check it often. 6. Adjust release bindings properly. 7. Use ski brakes or other similar mechanical device to avoid runaway skis. 8. Wear non-breakable sun glasses or goggles. 9. Use sunburn cream even on cloudy days. 10. Follow posted instructions at lifts and on slopes. 11. Loose clothing and long hair are hazards on rope tows and lifts. 12. When riding any lift carry ski poles by shafts. 13. Keep ski tips up when riding chair lift. 14. Learn to ski properly; take lessons from a certified instructor. 15. Ski within your ability. 16. Consult ski area map for slope difficulty. 17. Stop at the side of trails; look uphill for oncoming skiers. 18. Say "on your right" or "on your left" when passing close. 19. Ski defensively; be aware of other skiers. 20. Ski with companions -- a group of fours is best. 21. When skiing, as when driving don't drink alcoholic beverages. 22. Stop skiing when you are tired.
