Take Control of Your Lesson |
The more you're willing to put into a lesson, the more you'll get out of it. There are several things you can do to increase the value of your lesson. First, figure out your particular skiing style; do you have a wedge turn, are your skis parallel, do you pole plant? Second, think about the personal goals you'd like to set for your self. Even the best ski instructors can't read your mind. Set realistic goals for yourself and share these with your instructor; the best lesson is one with constant interaction. Tell them specifically what you would like to concentrate on and let them know if things are going too fast or slowly. Because ski instructors have different areas of expertise, request someone who enjoys teaching the areas you specify.
Having highlighted the basics you would like to work on, decide at what time of the day you learn best. Morning people should always take lessons in the a.m. Would you feel more comfortable with a male or female instructor? many people don't even think about these options when deciding to take a lesson but they can be important components in the successful learning experience. Finally, to ensure the best results in learning any sport, find out how you learn. |
